Kesari Bath Recipe (Karnataka Special Sweet)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Semolina (Rava/Sooji)

  • ¾ cup Sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 2½ cups Water

  • 3–4 tbsp Ghee

  • 8–10 Cashews

  • 8–10 Raisins

  • ¼ tsp Cardamom powder

  • A pinch of Saffron or Yellow food color (optional)

  • 1 tsp Chopped nuts (optional)

Roast Rava

  1. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan

  2. Add semolina (rava)

  3. Roast on low flame until it becomes aromatic (light golden)

  4. Keep aside

Boil Water

  1. In the same pan, boil 2½ cups water

  2. Add saffron or food color (optional)

Cook Rava

  1. Slowly add roasted rava into boiling water

  2. Stir continuously to avoid lumps

  3. Cook for 3–4 minutes until thick

Add Sugar

  1. Add sugar and mix well

  2. The mixture will become watery again

  3. Cook until it thickens

Add Ghee and Flavor

  1. Add remaining ghee little by little

  2. Add cardamom powder

Mix until it becomes glossy.

Fry Nuts and Raisins

  1. In a small pan, heat 1 tbsp ghee

  2. Fry cashews until golden

  3. Add raisins and fry until they puff up

  4. Add to Kesari Bath

Serve Kesari Bath Hot or Warm

Best served with:

  • Upma (as combo)

  • Tea or coffee 

Tips for Perfect Kesari Bath
